Kailua Kona is a beautiful sea-side community located on the West Coast of The Big Island of Hawaii. The population was 11,975 as of the 2010 census. The locals refer to it as "Kona" whenever they are talking about it. There is an International airport located in Kona and is only a 10 minute drive from Downtown Kona. Kona is located right on the Pacific Ocean about mid-way between the northern and southern-most parts of the Island. Kona is at the base of Hualalai volcano. This community was originally founded by King Kamehameha as his seat of government. Prior to his rule this was primarily a fishing village.

The climate in Kona is tropical with warm temperatures year around. The coldest month is January. The average high temperatures in January is 82 the low temperatures in January is 67 degrees. The humidity level ranges from 50% to 70% with an average rainfall of only 11.15 inches making it rather dry compared to other areas of the Big Island. Typically mornings are clear as cloud formation increase as the day progresses with rain usually coming at night.

Kona is the home of the World renown Iron man World Championship Triathlon. Kona is also known for the Kona Coffee Festival and the International Bill fish Tournament.
Local Shopping in Kona includes; K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Costco, Target, Ross, Sports Authority, Macys, Petco, Office Max, and 100s of small Ma and Pa retail stores. Fast food chains include; McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, KFC, Subway, Taco Bell, Panda Express, Taco Delmar, Dairy Queen, Jack in the Box, Starbucks and LL Hawaiian.

ALOHA!! Every body loves to shop for their loved ones and the Shopping Centers have made it very convenient to be able to shop in multiple stores with each stop. These shopping malls have everything from dining to grocery stores, Electronic stores to Auto parts, clothing stores to gifts. Oh and did I say gifts? These shopping centers have so many gift shops and art galleries that you will spend your whole day going through all of the terrific gift ideas!
There are a number of reasons why people shop at Shopping Centers. For one thing, people find Shopping Centers extremely convenient. In addition Shopping Centers provide shoppers with a great variety of stores and shopping opportunities. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Shopping Centers are great places for entertainment. Shopping Centers are convenient places to shop. They provide shoppers with abundant and secure parking areas. Shoppers need not drive around for fifteen minutes looking for a parking place, nor need they be afraid to walk to their cars after they have completed their shopping. Shopping Centers are usually are outdoors in Hawaii so people are comfortable while they shop. They do not have to be subject to the elements as they go from store to store because our climate is so mild. Finally, the most convenient aspect of the Shopping Centers is its one stop shopping experience. Variety is another advantage of the Shopping Centers. There are specialty stores, such as candle stores, bath and beauty stores and music and video stores. These are the anchors of the Shopping Centers, and the Shopping Centers provides "odd stores" for those eccentric shoppers who are looking for different items. Finally, Shopping Centers are a wonderful entertainment center. Not only do people go there to shop, but they also got there for relaxation. There are movies in several of our Shopping Centers here in the Kona area. In addition, arcades are available for children, teens and adults. Some parents drop their children off at the arcade, give them a roll of quarters and pick them up after they have completed their shopping. For the hungry shopper there are food courts, which provides fast food for those shoppers who want to relax. The Shopping Centers even offers concerts, outings and other events, especially during the holiday periods. As one can easily see, the Shopping Centers is indeed, a great place to shop. Where one is looking for convenience variety, or entertainment, no place beats these Shopping Centers. So next time a friend says, "lets go shopping" pack your bag and get set for a fun day.

The easiest way to get around Kona Town is to take a taxi. It's the fastest and most convenient way. You can arrange for a taxi to come pick you up wherever you are in the Kailua Kona area. If you're on a busy street like Ali'i Drive or Palani or Kuakini Highway, especially downtown Kona, you can wait for a taxi to come by. When you see a taxi, see if the light on the roof is off, the taxi is already occupied. If the light is on, it is available, so you can hail it by raising your hand. When you have a cab, you can load your suitcases, or the driver will do it for you. Most taxis have an automatic charge for luggage, about $1.00 per bag. In addition, some taxis also charge more for extra passengers, and some have a special airport tax! Therefore, be prepared to pay well for your taxi ride. The benefits are the speed, the privacy, the comfort, and the fact that a taxicab will drop you off right where you want. Don't forget to tip the driver! That's an additional 10-20%.
Within the last seven years, the Taxi industry in Hawaii has seen the trend of customers moving from driving themselves back and forth between destinations to utilizing other forms of transportation such as public transportation and other private transportation services.
The growth rate for the Taxi sector has been 4% for the last three years and is estimated to reach 5.6% for the next four years. The increase in growth is benefited due to several factors: An increase in business travel. Increased hassles associated with driving and parking automobiles. The recognition of the ever-decreasing amount of free time, and the time that is saved by utilizing Taxi service.
